Roulette City 2: Riacco Tellimore and Puck

Riacco Tellimore

World Renown Genetic Scientist

Age: 138 (appears around 40's, maybe late-30's)

History: A man born in a wealthy family during the mid-1870's, he was, from a very young age, incredibly brilliant. He went to a prestigious university and spent years working in hospitals as a doctor, and later a very skilled surgeon, where he developed his fascination with the human body. It was apparent to him at that time there was still much to learn about anatomy, but unfortunately for him, time was not on his side. He spent well over two decades developing a serum that replaces cells as quickly as they are lost, rendering him completely ageless. With this serum, he has been able to continue his work with uncovering the mysteries of the human body. His latest fascination happens to be in genetics and has made a name for himself in creating hybrids. Although many condemn his work of creating such hybrids, no one can argue that his work has helped save the lives of millions. But recently, Riacco has come to the realization he has done whatever he could with genetics and is looking for the next great scientific mystery to explore.

Little known to the vast majority of the population, Riacco has a much darker side. Because of the sensitive nature of his work, Riacco figured out it was much easier to explore his interests by illegal means; kidnapping unsuspecting victims and dragging them to his labs to perform a wide array of experiments. He has several ties to gangs, everything from common street thugs to the more elite and professional mafia. The mafia provide him with funding for his experiments and in exchange Riacco uses said experiments to perform hits for the gangs. On very rare occasion Riacco has been found to personally oversee his assignments. Lately the gangs have been growing wary of Riacco. They know he is a dangerous man, capable of making the members bend to his will, and they have found themselves wondering who is really calling the shots here.

Personality: In one word, obsessive. Riacco is a man of great pride and of high standards. Only the best will do and as such he is incredibly meticulous and thorough with his work. After studying the human body over a hundred years, he knows just about everything about it: pressure points, weak spots, the name and location of every bone and every blood vessel and artery. This comes quite in handy if forced to fight hand to hand. That is not to say he is skilled at all in closed ranged combat. Quite the contrary.

Riacco is a two-faced trickster. In public, he is charming, charismatic, and a bleeding-heart citizen concerned for the well-being of others. His true personality, however, is that of an utterly efficient and emotionless professional. He does what he likes, he takes what he needs, and the lives of others mean nothing to him. He will only go after whatever personally interests him. Riacco is patient and can stalk a target for months for the opportune moment to strike. Very level-headed, cool, cunning, and beyond brilliant, he is a fantastic liar, a professional con-man, he seems to know just what to say or do to turn the odds in his favor. Usually speaks in a low tone and is slow to anger, but even he has his tipping point, and can be quite violent and angry when pushed in just the right way. Demands respect and will become annoyed when he does not receive it. Also takes pride in being recognized/acknowledged.

Abilities/Strengths: The immortality serum he uses gave him much more than agelessness: he now possesses extremely rapid regenerative powers, meaning wounds heal in a matter of seconds. Mind you, he can still feel pain and can still die if he were to suffer a serious enough blow (head trauma, direct hits to vital areas, severe blood loss, etc) He cannot, however, regenerate lost limbs. He is also immune from most diseases, thanks to a super-charged immune system. His vast knowledge of human anatomy and science principals in general makes him for a cunning and strategic opponent. He’s not afraid to fight dirty to get what he wants.

Weapons: A standard handgun that Riacco brings with him as a back-up weapon. Keeps it holstered around his waist. Riacco knows how to use it, but would prefer not to. He just doesn't like using guns and he's not particularly skilled shooting with it. Uses it more as intimidation. Riacco also keeps a sturdy stainless steel 8" switchblade knife with him. Unlike his gun, Riacco is exceptionally skilled in using it (being a doctor for a hundred years can do that to you). He's fast, lethal, and dangerously accurate. He's not afraid to use it when things turn ugly (and funnily enough, he'll prefer using his knife over his gun).

Weaknesses: Riacco is proud, vain, and can be quick to underestimate others. He sees himself as something of a demi-god and considers other people below him. With his meticulous ways, if something were to not go according to plan, Riacco would find it very difficult to adapt and adjust. He despises it when things go wrong. Has a large ego and does not take well to being taunted or ridiculed.

Miscellaneous: Despite being over 100 years old, very few, if any, people know Riacco's true age. He keeps his immortality serum a strict secret for obvious reasons. If asked how old he is, will usually reply with a sly grin "Why, that's a very rude question, don't you think?" He needs to take the serum once every month in order to maintain his agelessness. If he doesn't, he will begin to age at about 30% faster rate than normal. Riacco can speak eight different languages fluently: Spanish, French, Russian, Italian, Japanese, German, Swedish, and of course English. Likes to play the piano and isn't too shabby at it either.

Puck

Species: Zombified Mutant Rat(?)

Height: 2 ft at shoulder (can vary greatly)

Weight: 40 lbs (can vary greatly)

Age: Unknown

History: Mostly unknown. Riacco stumbled upon the creature during one of his mafia assignments and thought it would be invaluable to study such a bizarre specimen. But Puck turned out to be a much greater handful than Riacco anticipated and after several years the scientist had all but given up on studying him, as his research came up with absolutely nothing of use. But for unknown reasons, Puck stuck around. Riacco and Puck have some developed sort of unspoken, uneasy truce between them, to which Riacco admittedly doesn’t fully understand.

Personality: A mischievous, voracious little gremlin. Seems to derive much joy out of causing Riacco endless torment and irritation. Puck also has an insatiable appetite and will devour anything he deems worthy of being eaten. Everything from animal parts to cars is fair game to him. He has the intelligence roughly that of a chimpanzee in that he can understand basic human speeches and interactions and can even communicate back via hisses and barks. What is unusually strange about Puck is that he has some sort of attachment to Riacco and will protect him from life-threatening situations, although he won’t be as eager if Riacco were to be involved in a minor scuffle. To the best of Riacco’s knowledge, Puck’s just keeping him alive so he can continue tormenting Riacco. Puck will happily sit back and watch Riacco get kicked around a bit before stepping in to make sure he doesn’t die. After all, what fun is tormenting someone when they’re dead?

Abilities: Puck is a unique species of zombie that is capable of instantaneous mutations. This allows him to re-grow and even grow extra limbs/eyes/mouths/whathaveyou in mere seconds. Still abiding by the laws of physics, however, these bodily changes burn up a lot of calories, and to grow a new limb mass must be taken from somewhere else. This is what's responsible for his ravenous, insatiable hunger. When he eats, he absorbs the victim's mass and converts it into muscle, fat, and bone as needed. As such, Puck's size is proportional to the amount of food he has recently eaten, and his maximum size has yet to be determined. Puck is a non-infectious zombie; if he were to bite someone, they will not turn into a zombie.

Being a zombie, Puck cannot feel pain and with his regenerative abilities he is able to fight through most physical attacks. Puck often sprouts larger teeth, larger claws, and/or new limbs with even more claws to combat his foes with, unless he just attempts to eat the outright, absorb their mass, and move onto his next meal.

As far as Riacco can tell, Puck cannot reproduce via binary fission. If cut in half, the side with his walnut-sized brain will attempt to regenerate the lost half (often by sticking it back on, eating it and re-growing it, or converting a storage supply of fat into the missing half).

Weaknesses: Due to his unique regenerative powers, headshots alone cannot kill Puck, but merely stun him. The only way to kill him is to destroy his entire body, possibly via fire, strong acids, freezing, extreme radiation, and other such means. The most effective way to weaken Puck is to repeatedly dismember him and keep him away from any potential food source. Starved of mass and calories, he will be unable to regenerate body parts and the diminished form will be much easier to dispose of. Also remember that Puck is an animal and while relatively intelligent, largely acts on basic instincts and cannot comprehend serious strategy. He's easy to bribe with tasty treats. Although his definition of "tasty" may be much, much different than conventional meanings.

Puck also has a crippling weakness for goat brains. It’s his favorite treat. Riacco keeps some on hand to bribe Puck to obey him. This has worked quite well and Puck seems willing to do what Riacco wants him to do for a tasty snack. To a point.
